SC/ST Cells are established in the year 2014 by the government of Andhra Pradesh. It is functioning in two divisions i.e. SC/ST Cell-I and Sc/ST Cell-II in Krishna District.

SC/ST Cell-I is headed by one Dy.S.P, one SI, 3 ASI/HCs and 1 PC are provided on attachment basis and allocated to investigation of cases reported under SC/ST (POA) Act in Nuzid and Gudivada Sub-Divisions.

SC/ST Cell-II is headed by one Dy.S.P  one SI who is on attachment was recently transferred and 2 PCs are provided on attachment basis and allocated to investigation of cases reported under SC/ST (POA) Act in Machilipatnam, Avanigadda and Nandigama Sub-Divisions.

At present SC/ST Cells I & II are accommodated and functioning in old building of Chilakalapudi Police Station, Machilipatnam.

The Dy.S.Ps SC/ST Cell will take over investigation of SC/ST Cases after receiving orders from the Superintendent of Police, Krishna under rule 7(1) of SC/ST Rules 1995.

In all the investigated cases, Charge sheets/ Final reports is being filed before the Special Judge for SC/ST (POA) Act cases within stipulated time and Court Monitoring System will follow up the trial procedure.

The Dy.S.Ps SC/ST Cell will follow up the process of relief and rehabilitation to the victims under liaison with Social Welfare department. Victims will be enlightened in relief and Rehabilitation matters.
